Are you interested in becoming a home inspector in Canada? In this episode of Real Estate 101: the Home Buying & Selling Show, Home Inspector Allan Spisak of the Professional Home & Property Inspectors of Canada, will walk us through a practice house, similar to the Test Inspection Peer Review. Home Inspectors in Canada need to go through this type of practical test in the provinces that have licensed Home Inspectors.
Who Prepares the Test Inspection Peer Review?
The Test Inspection Peer Review is not done by the Professional Home & Property Inspectors of Canada (PHPIC). Instead, the tests comes prepared by an independent, third body, called the National Home Inspector Certification Council (NHICC).
What the PHPIC does here is prepare the inspectors, so once they are qualified, they can apply for the NHICC Test Inspection Peer Review.
You can see more about this body’s licensing and certification process, methods and criteria on their website over at NHICC.
Why is this Test Important?
Before a home inspector can get his operating licence in Canada, they must complete a test exam. In the provinces that have licensed Home Inspectors, they must pass a practical house inspection exam. In order to do so, the future home inspectors take a Test Inspection Peer Review to prepare.
“PHPIC holds practice sessions so Inspectors can prepare for the actual Test Inspection Peer Review to get certified and licensed where required.”
The test itself not only prepares the home inspectors to become qualified for their job, but also provides information on the processes that they will go through during their future inspections.
